Cherokee Orchard Road

GATLINBURG, Tenn.—An emergency slope repair on a portion of Cherokee Orchard Road will require a full closure of the roadway beginning Monday, September 22.

The slope failure is located in the 500 block of Cherokee Orchard Road. Construction crews from Blalock Construction, who were awarded the emergency repair contract last week, are expected to complete the project in approximately two weeks.

Map of ClosureDuring this time, Cherokee Orchard Road will be closed to all traffic between its intersection with Baskins Creek Road and the intersection of Cherokee Orchard Road and East Holly Ridge Road/Circle Drive.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this closure may cause, however, these emergency repairs are necessary to ensure the long-term safety and stability of this roadway and surrounding slope,” City Manager Greg Patterson said. “We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we work diligently to complete the repairs as quickly and safely as possible.”

The City encourages all motorists and residents to plan ahead for alternative routes during the repair period. Completing this work now will ensure safe travel on Cherokee Orchard Road, but also strengthen the roadway and slope against future issues. The City appreciates the community’s cooperation as crews work to complete the project on schedule.
