Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is staffed with 33 Police Officers, three Sergeants, three Lieutenants, and three Captains. The Patrol Division works on a 24/7 basis.

Officers on the Patrol Division work general patrol duties which include traffic enforcement, direction, and motorist assists. Also, Officers are the initial response to calls for service, past-occurred crimes, and in-progress crimes. Lastly, Officers patrol the City of Gatlinburg to deter possible criminal behavior and maintain a safe environment for our visitors and residents. The Patrol Division handled more than 26,000 calls for service during the Fiscal Year ended June 30, 2023.

After graduating from a P.O.S.T. approved academy, successful completion of a fifteen-week field training program, and gaining some experience as a patrol officer, a patrol officer can request to be trained in a number of specialties and be assigned additional duties.

  • Tactical Response Team

  • Crisis Negotiation

  • Motorcycle/Traffic Officer

  • Bike Patrol Officer

  • Walking Patrol

  • K-9 Officer

  • County-Wide Bomb Squad Member

  • Property and Evidence

  • School Resource Officer

  • Meth Response Team

  • Law Enforcement Training Instructor

The Patrol Division utilizes regular patrol officers assigned to different types of vehicles to efficiently protect and maintain the City of Gatlinburg.
