“You should be very proud of the park you have here, because I can promise you with all the parks I see in Tennessee and nationwide, this is one of the best parks in the entire southeast.”

About the Park

The City of Gatlinburg operates a Dog Park, which is located inside of Mills Park.

The Park has been opened since November 2021 and was formally opened with a dedication ceremony in March 2022.

This park allows Gatlinburg citizens and visitors a place to bring their faithful companions.

The Dog Park at Mills Park features a great opportunity for large and small dog owners to enjoy with their pets. A pair of separate fenced-in areas, one for large dogs and one for small dogs, feature a double-gated entrance to prevent dogs from getting loose. Both parks offer a large fenced-in area for dogs to exercise and play off-leash.

Each of the small and large dog facilities feature shaded areas, turfed grass areas, benches, and dog-waste bags and trash cans. Water fountains are accessible outside the gates of large and small dog parks.

LOSE and Associates designed the Dog Park and FTM Contracting was the Project contractor.

“Data shows that more people are bringing their dogs on vacation and that dogs are becoming more of the family than ever before, so it is only fitting that they bring their dog on the family vacation and we’ve got an excellent addition to our community with this Dog Park."

The Dog Park Dash grant program, administered by the Boyd Foundation, allocated $25,000 in funds for the construction and development of a dog park in Gatlinburg. The remainder of the project was funded by the City of Gatlinburg.

The Dog Park at Mills Park was the 87th such facility to be supported by the Dog Park Dash program in the state.
