According to the project contractor, Mike Smith Pump Service, LLC., the initial construction on the extension project will begin near the intersection of Glades Road and Buckhorn Road and travel along Glades Road towards Watson Drive.
Crews will be constructing the sewer and water lines over the next six months, as the project has an estimated completion date of February 2021.
Construction of the extension of the City’s water and sewer system is weather dependent. Crews are currently scheduled to work Monday through Thursday each week and the City urges motorists to exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone to protect the safety of the workers.
Once completed, the project will extend the City’s water and sewer system along Glades Road to its intersection with Buckhorn Road. The $1.38 million investment to extend the City’s water and sewer system to Buckhorn Road was unanimously approved by the Gatlinburg City Commission earlier this year.
