GATLINBURG, Tenn.—A renovation project continues at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, helping to keep the facility as one of the nation’s best with additional meeting space and cosmetic upgrades.
Renovations on the Gatlinburg Convention Center, which has been named as one of the best meeting sites in the southern United States as a ConventionSouth Readers Choice Award winner on multiple occasions, began earlier this year. Individuals traveling Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg have been witness to the upgrades outside the facility in recent weeks, including new river stone sidewalks in front of the facility, ADA accessible ramps and renovated stairs to enter the facility. Additionally, public restrooms near the Parkway entrance to the Convention Center were recently renovated, as well as repairs made on the underside of the top-floor porch. Landscaping at the front of the facility is in the planning stages and is expected to be completed later this summer.
As part of the renovations project, the entire roof of Convention Center will be replaced, as well as the HVAC unit. Inside the facility, storage space is being converted into meeting space to provide ample room for conferences and conventions. Other renovations include a replacement of carpet throughout the facility, as well as a redesigned entrance desk, a resurfacing of the great hall floor, redevelopment of concession stands and ADA accessible family restrooms.
The $8 million renovation project at the Gatlinburg Convention Center, which provides more than 148,000 square feet of meeting space, was approved by the Gatlinburg City Commission in October 2020.
