City asks for prayers and support for family of Officer Robert Frederick

The City is heartbroken for one of our own Gatlinburg Police Department Officers, Robert Frederick, whose family suffered an unspeakable tragedy early Saturday morning in a home fire on King Branch Road. Officer Frederick's daughter, Shauna, an 18-year old recent graduate of Gatlinburg-Pittman High School, and father-in-law, Edmond Davis, 74, tragically perished during the fire.

Officer Frederick has served with the Gatlinburg Police Department since November 2015. He remains hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and was upgraded to good condition on Tuesday. He has been hospitalized at Vanderbilt since Saturday morning and has been reunited with his wife, Patricia, his son and other family members.

“Our thoughts, prayers and condolences are with Officer Frederick and his family during this tragic time,” Gatlinburg Police Chief Randy Brackins said. “Officer Frederick is an integral part of our City family and we are continuing to ask for prayers, support and privacy for him and his family.”

The City has established a Benefit Fund for the Frederick Family through SmartBank. Monetary donations will be accepted for the family at any SmartBank branch in Sevier County.
