GATLINBURG, Tenn.—Construction on the Glades Road water and sewer extension project is continuing this month.
According to the project contractor, Mike Smith Pump Service, LLC., the construction on the extension project is being performed in the 1100 block of Glades Road, near its intersection of Reed Ridge Road. Currently, the work being performed is outside the roadway, with crews conducting traffic control as needed. Construction work in this area is expected to last through the end of January.
Work on the Project is also continuing at the intersection of Glades and Buckhorn Roads with minor traffic interruptions possible.
Construction of the extension of the City’s water and sewer system is weather dependent. Crews are currently scheduled to work Monday through Thursday each week and the City urges motorists to exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone to protect the safety of the workers.
Once construction is complete, the road will be resurfaced. All work is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2021.
Once completed, the project will extend the City’s water and sewer system along Glades Road to its intersection with Buckhorn Road. The $1.38 million investment to extend the City’s water and sewer system to Buckhorn Road was unanimously approved by the Gatlinburg City Commission in February 2020.
