GATLINBURG, Tenn.—The City of Gatlinburg has announced its Environmental Design Review Awards for 2020.
The winners were announced at both the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet and the December 15, 2020 Gatlinburg City Commission meeting.
“The City offers its heartfelt congratulations to the EDRB Award winners for this year,” Gatlinburg City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle said. “The City appreciates the hard work and effort by all of these winners to keep Gatlinburg aesthetically pleasing.”
Ruby Sunshine, owned by RSC Gatlinburg LLC., was honored as the Excellence in Sign Design award winner. Its sign was made by The Sign Shop. Three Certificates of Recognition were presented in this category as well to Laurel Estates at the Glades, ‘Burg Steakhouse and Byrd’s Famous Cookies. Laurel Estates at the Glades is owned by DMJ Holdings and its sign was designed by Fred Fische. ‘Burg Steakhouse is owned by Byron and Brady Stanga and its sign was designed by Sign Works. Byrd’s Famous Cookies sign was designed by Signco Inc, Baker Jones.
Smoky Mountain Student Lodge was named as the Excellence in Building Additions and Renovations award winner, while The Gatlinburg Inn was presented a Certification of Recognition in the category. Smoky Mountain Student Lodge is owned by Gatlinburg Investments, LLC and the Architect on the project was Randolph Architecture and the Contractor was Bryce Development, LLC. The Gatlinburg Inn is owned by Gatlinburg Inn Properties, LLC. and the Architect was Trotter DeFoe Architects, LLC and the Contractor was D&S Builders, LLC.
Anakeesta’s Cliff Top Restaurant was named as the Excellence in New Building Design winner, while Anakeesta’s Observation Tower was presented a Certificate of Recognition for New Building Design. Anakeesta is owned by Silverbell Investments, LLC and the Architect on both projects was SRA Architects, Inc., Michael Smelcer and the Contractor on both projects was D&S Builders, LLC.
Anakeesta was also named as the Excellence in Landscaping Design award winner. Anakeesta is owned by Silverbell Investments and the project designers were Bob Bentz and David Montgomery. The Contractor was Anakeesta, LLC. Smoky Mountain Student Lodge was honored with a Certificate of Recognition in the category. The project designer was Joe Lelonek and the contractor was Anakeesta, LLC.
